After a successful Level the Table funding application, Cheslyn Hay Table Tennis Club have expanded their over Bat & Chat programme to include a female-only session.

Table Tennis England’s Bat & Chat initiative aims to provide Over-50s with the opportunity to enjoy table tennis in a friendly and relaxed environment and helps to combat social isolation.

Cheslyn Hay first introduced Bat & Chat sessions to their club programme in 2019, offering social table tennis to Over-65’s on Thursday afternoons.

We wanted to offer a purely social activity where people could meet, play, chat and have social contact, which is so important in the present climate.

Since then, the club has been awarded funding through our Level the Table Grant to start a female-only Bat & Chat session to help us work towards more females playing table tennis. Find out more about our work around Women & Girls here.

The sessions are helping to reduce loneliness, and provides those who take part with an opportunity to
keep fit in a social environment, and have got off to a great start.
