Over recent years, the Isle of Wight has developed its junior coaching policy, with experienced players happily passing on advice and guidance to younger players, who are keen to learn the game.

When they join the local league, they are presented with an Isle of Wight (sponsored) table tennis shirt or hoodie.

The youngsters’ progress can be quite staggering. They are pictured with six of their coaches. Two of the youngsters, Lewis Johnstone and Ryan Cates, are now playing in the Senior British League.

Older table tennis folk will remember Carl Prean, Lucy Pointer, Danny Burns and Temeesha Hobbs, who all came through the Island’s coaching system to play at national and international level.

Table tennis is not just about enjoying the game ourselves; but also, enthusiastically, passing on the love of the sport to the next generation.
