Three reigning champions will be back to defend their titles at the English Leagues Cup Competitions (ELCC) finals.
The qualifying stages have now been completed across the four competitions which make up the event, and 30 teams representing 23 leagues – six more than last season – have made it through.
Among them, Derby will have the chance to win three titles, while Central London, Leamington Spa, Loughborough, Norwich and Nottingham have two in their sights.
Central London will be defending the Wilmott Cup for Senior Men, which is the oldest competition on the Table Tennis England calendar, having first been held in 1935.
Their duo of Derek Abrefa and Oleh Biletskyi, the same pair who won the title in 2024/25 (pictured above), came through Zone 7 without dropping an individual match. Meanwhile, Norwich’s Chris Cockburn and Frederic Wilke matched that feat in Zone 5.
Zone 8 threw up a three-way countback which required some unpicking. Southampton beat Reading, who in turn beat Central London B, who in turn defeated Southampton – all 3-2. With Southampton and Reading also level on Games Ratio, it came down to the head-to-head result, sending Southampton (John McBeath and Adam Klos) through.
Qualified teams: Central London, Crawley/Horsham, Loughborough, Norwich, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southampton, Stockton.
The defending champions won’t be winning the JM Rose Bowl for Senior Women, with Leicester having not entered the competition. However, one of last year’s winning pair will be back as Catherine Lv has now teamed up with Naomi Coker to represent Derby – Lv actually defeated her new team-mate in last year’s final.
Derby got through without dropping an individual match and among the other qualifiers were Norwich, who can regain the trophy they held for three years before their reign was ended last season. Cambridge and Plymouth won ‘lucky loser’ places.
Qualified teams: Cambridge, Central London, Derby, Newbury, North Herts, Norwich, Nottingham, Plymouth.
In the Carter Cup for Junior Boys, defending champions Wembley & Harrow fielded the same trio who led them to success last season – Oscar Nikolli, Janak Shah and Nishil Shah. They came through Zone 7 without dropping any individual matches.
There was also a ‘lucky loser’ drawn in this competition and it went to Leamington Spa.
Qualified teams: Birmingham, Derby, Leamington Spa, Liverpool, Southend, Sutton, Wembley & Harrow, Worksop.
No qualifying stage was needed in the Bromfield Trophy for Junior Girls, in which Derby will have the chance to win the title for the fourth year in succession and will be up against five other leagues.
Qualified teams: Derby, Leamington Spa, Leicester, Loughborough, Southport, Walsall.
There were eight host venues across the three competitions – Newbury TTC, St Neots TTC, Draycott TTC, Wood Green TTC, Scunthorpe TTC, Crosby High TTC (Liverpool), Hockley TTC (Southend) and Christ’s College (Guildford).
The Finals will be at Draycott TTC with the Senior events on Saturday 4 July and Junior events on Sunday 5 July. The draw and programme for the Finals will be released in the week leading up to the competition.
