Every safe session, every answered question, every celebrated success and every new opportunity to play table tennis starts with people who care about the sport.
Over the past 12 months, Table Tennis England has helped the game grow in clubs, leagues, schools and community venues across the country. That work is visible in the big moments, such as the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026, but it is also visible in the everyday work which keeps the sport moving.
As a National Governing Body, answering member questions, promoting opportunities to play and helping to make table tennis a safe, welcoming place for everyone are some of our core duties – and your membership fees help to fund that essential work.
Helping to keep the sport safe
A strong sport must also be a safe sport. Safeguarding is not just a policy area or a page on a website – it is part of the culture that clubs, leagues, volunteers, parents, coaches and officials build together week after week.
During the past year, that work has included reminders and support for Club Welfare Officers, clear guidance for clubs and continued links into the wider Sport Welfare Officer network. Since October 2024, that national network has delivered focused support to more than 5,000 sports clubs across England, helping volunteers and organisations create safer and more inclusive environments.
Table tennis can only thrive when people feel confident that they, their children and their team-mates are supported. Members help make that possible by following codes of conduct, raising concerns where needed, volunteering as welfare officers and setting the right tone in clubs and competitions.
Answering questions and supporting the community
Behind the scenes, Table Tennis England’s support for members is constant. Over the past year, the organisation has handled more than 12,000 member enquiries, each one representing someone looking for help, advice, guidance or reassurance.
Those enquiries might be about membership, competitions, rankings, clubs, safeguarding, coaching, insurance or how to get involved for the first time. Taken together, they show the scale of the table tennis community and the importance of having a national body ready to listen and respond.
This support will be strengthened further through the new digital membership platform, developed with Cloudathlete, which is designed to make joining, renewing and engaging with the sport smoother and more personal. It will also bring community features, improved competition management and smarter communications, helping members see the information that matters most to them.
Promoting the sport
Our members’ support also helps us to promote and publicise the sport to existing and potential supporters, volunteers and players. Membership fees help us to create engaging content on our social media channels, creating a fandom around the sport and its personalities.
They also help us to talk to our members and the wider world, by keeping our website updated with essential information and the latest news and by sending out tailored email communications.
Why membership matters
Every membership helps Table Tennis England to do all this work and more.
That’s why, as the new season approaches, we are saying thank you to our members. Thank you for helping us create safe places for all to play. Thank you for helping us handle more than 12,000 member enquiries. Thank you for helping us promote and celebrate the sport. Most of all, thank you for being part of a community which makes table tennis stronger, more welcoming and more exciting for everyone.
