With 13 days of pulsating action still fresh in the memory, we’ve crunched the numbers behind the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026 Presented by ACN.
From athletes to volunteers, spectators to media, let’s take a look at some of the headline stats from the Copper Box Arena and OVO Arena Wembley.
Matches
London 2026 was all about the athletes – without them, there were no Championships. Statistician Matt Solt looks at their combined workload and some individual highs.
There were:
- 240 team contests
- 857 individual matches
- 3,086 games
- 55,409 points
The team which spent the most time on court was China men, who were in action for 18 hours and 10 minutes.
The longest match was Egypt men’s 3-2 victory over Turkey in Stage 1b, which took 3hr 31min 12sec; the shortest was Ukraine women’s 3-0 defeat of Rwanda in 38min 43sec.
The total time on court across all teams was 850 hours.
Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto played the most individual matches and points – 13 matches, comprising 878 points.

China’s world No 1s were both unbeaten – Wang Chuqin winning 10/10 and Sun Yingsha 9/9.
Margaryta Pesotska of Ukraine, now 34, won 7/7 – her first WTTC was in 2006. Hana Goda of Egypt was also undefeated with 7/7, while Wales’ Anna Hursey and Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi both won 6/6. In total there were 46 undefeated players, though many of those played only one match.
Ni Xia Lian of Luxembourg extended her world record by playing in her 26th ITTF World Championships – her debut was in 1983, for China.

Volunteers
From Fan Zones to athlete services, logistics to media, spectator services to transport and from practice hall to field of play, volunteers stepped into a wide range of key roles with energy and enthusiasm.

- Age range: 18 to 88
- Total hours: 21,402.75 (equivalent to nearly 900 days of non-stop volunteering)
- Total number of shifts: 3,239
Tickets
From the multi-table Copper Box Arena to the single showcourt during the latter stages at OVO Arena Wembley, the championships were well supported – and the atmosphere for the semi-finals and finals in particular was mind-blowing as packed houses cheered the action on every point.
- 58,921 total tickets were distributed, including free allocations to our social impact programmes and initiatives
- 38,468 total tickets sold
- UK buyers: 73%
- Other countries: China 9%; Germany 2.3%; France 1.8%; rest of world 13.9%
Media

Well over 200 media personnel were accredited to attend London 2026, comprising broadcasters, photographers and written media from all over the world.
Statistics from live-streams and broadcast worldwide are not yet available, but in terms of UK audiences, news about the Championships generated:
- UK TV press/news coverage: 13.3m TV views
- UK Radio press/news coverage: 31.16m listens
Outlets and programmes featuring the Worlds before and during the tournament included: BBC Breakfast (which broadcast live from the first day of the event), R4 Today, 5Live Breakfast, BBC Newsround, The One Show, CGTN Europe, talkSPORT.
