Defending Girls’ Singles champion Cindy Xiao (pictured above) leads the England squad for the Primary Schools International in Scotland in April – and has been called up for the fourth year in succession.

England will be up against teams from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Guernsey and Jersey as they aim to defend both team titles which they won at the 2025 edition of the event in Wales. They also won a total of five singles medals.

The squad for the competition, from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 April at Inverclyde National Training Centre in Largs, is:

Boys: Lok Hei (Hayfield) Lam (Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Cheshire), Dominic Rimmy (London Academy, London North), Jacob Dennison (Greatwood Primary School, Lancashire), Daniyal Janmohamed (Haberdashers’ School Elstree, Hertfordshire). Non-Playing Captain: Dave Pilkington.

Girls: Bethany Yang (Haberdashers’ Girls School Elstree, Hertfordshire), Isabella Xiao Xu (Farringtons School, London South), Cindy Xiao (Castor CE Primary, Cambridgeshire), Hattie Xiao (Castor CE Primary, Cambridgeshire). Non-Playing Captain: Teresa Bennett.

The head of Delegation is Gail Johns. Umpires are to be confirmed.

The team events will be played on Friday afternoon and Saturday, with the individual events on the Sunday.

Schools Internationals Organiser Kate Hughes said: “Cindy’s selection for a fourth consecutive year reflects her outstanding consistency and commitment, while it is equally exciting to see the rest of the players earning their first opportunity to represent England Schools.

“Together, they form a strong and talented squad who I am confident will represent England with pride, confidence and passion at the forthcoming Primary Schools Internationals in April. Good luck!”
