England and Wales are well represented on the ITTF Athletes’ Commission after the election held during the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026 Presented by ACN.

England’s Paul Drinkhall (pictured above) and Charlotte Carey of Wales were elected, while Jack Hunter-Spivey was one of two para representatives to join the Commission.

More than 300 votes were cast in the election for able-bodied representatives, and Paul picked up 278, the joint most with Elizabeta Samara of Romania. Charlotte received 261 votes.

The other members of the Commission are: Sharath Kamal Achanta (India), Celia Baah Danso (Ghana), Sami Kherouf (Algeria), Liu Shiwen (China) and Alberto Mino (Ecuador).

The Commission is completed by para athletes Hunter-Spivey and Tahl Leibovitz (USA). They were the only two para athletes who were in the frame and therefore no election was needed.

The Commission ensures the views of athletes are represented, while also ensuring balanced representation across continents and genders, and able-bodied and para.

An ITTF statement said: “Together, these 10 athletes — eight able-bodied and two Para — form the Athletes’ Commission of the Centenary, representing the voices of table tennis players across all disciplines at a defining moment in the sport’s history.

“The ITTF congratulates all elected members and looks forward to working with the new Commission in the years ahead.”
