August 1 marks the first day of the 2025/26 season, bringing with it important changes to competitions, regulations and rankings.
Here’s what you need to know so you can enjoy and achieve in table tennis this season!
Competitions
The Competition Review is finished and implementation of the last developments will take place this season, though individual events will continue to be finessed and developed. An overview of the process and changes can be seen here.
The final elements include:
- The new U11 & U13 Pathway Development Cup will take place on the weekend of 30-31 May 2026, hosted by Highfield TTC. Further info can be seen here and will be released in due course
- Updated regulations for the Open Tournaments (1*/ 2*/ 4*) have been published to make these events easier and more cost-effective to run for hosts and to enter by participants. All updated regulations for the new season can be see here.
The regulations are supported by an expanded and enhanced ‘Tournaments Explained’ supporting document, which has been developed as a one-stop resource for both new and existing tournament organisers. This can be seen here.
The first Senior 4* of the new season will take place in Sussex – entries close on Tuesday 12 August so get your entry in now to book your place!
This season sees exciting new changes to the Senior British Clubs League, Premier Division format. We are pleased to announce the dates for the new season with the following hosts – fixtures will be published soon on TT Leagues.
- Weekend 1: 4-5 October 2025 – North Ayrshire TTC
- Weekend 2: 13-14 December 2025 – BATTS TTC
- Weekend 3: 14 February 2026 – Fusion TTC
- Weekend 4: 11-12 April 2026 – Ormesby TTC
The National Series will enter its second year with a few enhancements following consultation. Invites will be issued to invited players shortly – please see general info for this season here.
A new Girls’ Cadet BCL pilot series will take place from May to July 2026, in addition to the existing mixed gender format. Details will be available closer to Christmas here.
Rankings
The Ranking Guidelines have been republished for the new season to include annual housekeeping updates. This includes the following developments:
- New U23/ O50/ O60 and O70 age-group filters in the respective ranking/ ratings lists. These will be launched on Wednesday 6 August, can be seen in the live lists, and are configurable and downloadable in members’ profiles.
The 2025/26 ranking run dates and the 2025/26 season-opening rankings will be released after the August ranking run on Wednesday 6 August, and will include the transition of final-year Cadets to Juniors, and final-year Juniors to Seniors.
