More than 60 participants played in the Isle of Wight annual Fun Table Tennis Tournament on 19 December – the largest number of participants for this event.

After recent competitive tournaments, this was a relaxed, light-hearted event, in a convivial atmosphere, with most people in appropriate Christmas attire.

Participants play with their doubles partner and immediately afterwards they play against their doubles partner. It was good to see nine teenagers participating and really enjoying their table tennis.

Joint winners were Lewis Johnstone and Trevor Jones – Lewis is one of the Island’s top teenagers who has been playing recently in the Senior British Clubs League, while Trevor is an Island Division 2 player.

In third place was Jye Lock, another promising teenager with great potential. Congratulations to 13-year-old Aimee Waddell – best fancy dress.

Thanks to Rob Smith, who played, organised and co-ordinated the event and also to Pat Thorley for the Christmas refreshments.
