We are excited to announce the upcoming Junior 1 Star competition, taking place on 6th April 2025 at Kirkby Stephen TTC, Cumbria, in the North West. This event marks the first Open Junior Tournament organised by Kirkby Stephen TTC in partnership with the Kendal and District Table Tennis League. It is specifically designed for cadet & junior players 11-19 who are new to open competitions.

We encourage North West clubs to support this event and encourage their players to participate. The entry form can be downloaded here (Closing Date ext: 23/03/25). As a One Star event, this tournament provides players with the chance to earn TTE ranking points, marking an important first step on the progression ladder. This also makes it an excellent opportunity for players from outside the region to take part.

To ensure the tournament is accessible to beginners and younger juniors, it will follow a banded format. Players will be grouped by similar ability levels, with Band 1 consisting of more experienced players and Band 7 for younger or less experienced participants. The event is open to all juniors (under 18). Players will compete in groups of 7 or 8, playing round-robin matches against everyone in their group. Medals will be awarded to the winner and runner-up of each band.

The entry fee is £18, and players must hold a valid playing license. This can be either a “Compete” membership with Table Tennis England (free for under 11s, £11 for other juniors) or a single-day tournament license (£5 for juniors, free for under 11s).

The venue has a viewing gallery, offering ample space for spectators, and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

We hope you can support this event, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
