The European Youth Championships 2025 have reached the knockout phase in the singles events, with the doubles events reaching the quarter final stage. Abraham Sellado & Patricia Stoica (ROU) reached the quarter-final of the Cadet Mixed Doubles and fought for a European medal, but sadly went down 3-1 to the German second seeded pairing, despite taking the 1st game. However, it was heartbreak for Piwowar and Lana Benko (CRO) as they bowed out in the last 16 by the finest margin. Piwowar and Sellado will head into their last 16 doubles fixture hopeful as they are seeded to reach the quarter-final.
The GB players who did not feature in the group qualification stage of the singles events due to their European ranking and seeding will join the draw today. However, for the Junior Singles, their opening opponents are yet unknown. This includes Junior Singles player’s; Connor Green, who is seeded number 12, Anna Hursey, the European U21 double champion, seeded 8th, and also includes Tianer Yu, who is seeded 21st. In the Cadet Boys Singles, Abraham Sellado is seeded 5th and will face Lucas Adao of Portugal, who Sellado did dispatch 3-0 when the teams met. Kacper Piwowar, who is seeded 9th for this event, will face Piotr Lacki of Poland in his opening last 64 match.
The players who fought hard to make it through the group stage will also compete in the knockout draw today. Notable draws include the only Cadet Girl left in the draw, Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska who has a last 32 draw against Siri Benjegard (5th seed), after receiving a BYE in her last 64 fixture. Jake Davidson raced to a group stage victory, where he will now face Bulgaria’s Stefan Bonchev. Anna Green will be the first English player to feature, live on table 1 at 9:30 which you can watch here

The days action began with the players trying to earn their spot in the main draw knockout, as the group stage matches reached their final rounds. Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska was the only Cadet Girl to make it through the group stage in Ostrava with impressive group stage wins. Followed by yet another impressive performance from Bristol youngster Jake Davidson, who took his second 3-0 group stage victory to earn his place in the knockout draw. A fantastic tournament for the two English cadets on European Youth Championships debut.
In the Junior age group Joseph Hunter & Larry Trumpauskas progressed as group runners-up, whilst Max Radiven stormed to a group stage victory, where the 3 players will join Connor Green in the main knockout draw. In the Junior Girls group stage, Ella Pashley & Anna Green have advanced to join Tianer Yu in the main draw, both players registering commanding 3-0 final round victories.
The Junior doubles event saw England with 4 pairs in the last 32, through some great last 64 victories. Sadly, it is only Connor Green alongside partner Leyton Ullmann of Germany who found a last 32 place with a 3-0 victory. England found more joy in the Cadet doubles events. Both Sellado & Piwowar reached the last 16 in the Mixed Doubles event, with Sellado & Stoica cruising into the quarter-final. In a tense thriller to end the day, Piwowar & Benko fought from 103 down in the fourth end to force a 5th and deciding set against the number 4 seeds, where they sadly lost out 16-14. Both English Cadet Boys doubles pairings reached the last 32, where Davidson & Ramirez Rioja exited the competition 3-1 at the hands of highly rated French cadets Sandona & Tessier. Sellado & Piwowar continue to fight for European glory in the Cadet Boys Doubles with a 3-0 victory.
