Earlier this week I was talking with a league secretary in Worcestershire about how things are going in his league and we both agreed on one point. This being how fast this half of the table tennis season has gone. I recall talking with the same gentleman two weeks before his league started and within the blink of an eye its half over.

For me as I look back on 2025, the past year has all been mainly about planning for the World Team Championships next year. I was thinking same as the league secretary it will be a long time before we start our competition but believe me when I say every time I look at the date and the days left before it starts the clock seems to be ticking ever increasingly faster. I just cannot believe its just over 100 days to go and we are planning for the competition draw and booking catering arrangements for volunteers.

Talking about volunteers – applications are now open to anyone who wants to get involved. We had 250 applicants on the first day this opened!!!

Looking forward and away from the World Championships I am particularly looking forwards to getting the Technical Officials Academies off the ground early in January. This will provide the competition network with a new generation of officials. More details to follow.

All that is left now is to wish you all a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
