Dimitar Dimitrov (pictured above) won once group match but it was not enough for him to qualify for the knockout stage of the WTT Youth Star Contender Tunis.
Dimitrov (WR 482 Junior), who reached the Under-13 Boys’ Singles semi-finals at the Contender which preceded the Star Contender, faced a bigger challenge against higher-ranked Under-15s this time out.
He was the third-ranked player in Group 2 anf first met second seed Lukas Wang of Germany, who is the No 156 Junior in the world and who won their meeting in three.
Dimitrov then beat the lower-ranked Abdesslem Karray of the host nation to set up a winner-take-all match against the group’s second-ranked player, Emil Ellermann of Sweden. Dimitrov won the first game but Ellermann came back to win the next three.
Dimitrov was also involved in the Under-15 Boys’ Doubles alongside Jeffrey Wei of Germany, but they lost in four games to a pair from Saudi Arabia.
In the Under-15 Mixed Doubles, alongside Laura Marsickova of Czechia, it was another first round exit, to Louis Fegerl of Austria and Adela Brhelova of Czechia.
