More than 350 dedicated volunteers will supply enthusiasm and dedication by the bucketload to ensure the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026 Presented by ACN are a hit with athletes and spectators.
At the weekend, more than 120 volunteers who will occupy key roles came together for their training session at the Copper Box Arena, which will host the opening four days of the Championships from 28 April to 1 May.
Volunteer roles include competition and technical support, media operations, Fanzone, spectator experience, hospitality, accommodation and transport support and more.
The people in those roles are the friendly faces greeting athletes, the calm problem-solvers behind the scenes and the energetic champions creating unforgettable experiences for fans, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the operation behind the scenes.
Many of them come through the Team London Ambassadors programme, which supplies volunteers for events across the capital.
The training covered role-specific skills to ensure the volunteers feel confident, informed and ready for action.
Regen-James Gregg, Head of Volunteer Workforce for the World Championships, said: “The energy and enthusiasm we saw in the room today were absolutely incredible.
“Bringing together the fantastic volunteers who will be the heartbeat of the World Championships is always a special milestone and reinforces just how vital they are to the success of this event.
“We covered a lot of ground during the sessions, from real technical details and media and communication, right through to the spectator experience, but what stood out the most was everyone’s readiness to tackle any challenge with a welcoming smile.
“While millions will tune in globally to watch the world’s greatest athletes take centre stage, it is this dedicated team of volunteers who will create that unforgettable, seamless experience for every single fan, player and guest who walks through the doors.
“If today’s training session is any indication of the dedication we are bringing to the floor, we are in for a truly spectacular and historic championships.”
