Three members of England’s World Championships squad will compete at the Mark Bates Ltd Junior & Under-21 National Championships this weekend, with several of last year’s gold medallists returning to defend their titles.
Under-21 Women’s Singles champion from last year, Ella Pashley, will be seeded third and would meet England team-mate and top seed Tianer Yu in the semi-finals if it goes to seeding. Yu missed last year’s event but defeatd Pashley in the 2024 final, when the Under-21s were part of the Senior Nationals.
The second seed in the category is last year’s Junior champion, Sopie Earley, who is no longer eligible to defend that title.
In the Under-21 Men’s Singles, Connor Green is absent but England squad player Joseph Hunter is the top seed, ahead of defending champion Larry Trumpauskas – both reached Finals Day at the Senior Nationals in March.
Last year’s beaten finalist, Isaac Kingham, is third seed and the Junior Boys’ Singles champion from 2025, Jakub Piwowar is seeded fourth.
Piwowar is actually the sixth seed in the Junior category as he seeks to repeat last year’s triumph. He is drawn to face top seed Max Radiven in the quarter-finals. The other top-four seeds are Abraham Sellado (No 2), Kingham (No 3) and Piwowar’s younger brother Kacper at No 4.
In the Junior Girls’ Singles, Yu and Pashley are the top two in the seedings, ahead of Sienna Jetha and Rachael Iles.
As well as the singles, five doubles pairs will be crowned champions at David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham, with three champion pairs from last year returning.
They include Under-21 Men’s champions Radiven & Rohan Dani, who are seeded fourth and in the same half of the draw as second seeds Hunter & James Hamblett, whom they beat 13-11 in a deciding game in last year’s final.
Last year’s Junior champions Trumpauskas & Jakub Piwowar step up as top seeds in the Under-21s, but are the third seeds in the Junior age group, behind Radiven & Dani and Kingham & Sellado.
The other returning champions are in the Under-21 Mixed, where Kingham & Mabel Shute are fourth seeds and due to meet top seeds Earley & Hunter in the semis. In the bottom half of the draw, Pashley & Jakub Piwowar are second seeds and seeded to meet Jetha & Sellado in the last four.
Earley won the Under-21 Women’s Doubles alongside Eva Eccles last year, but this year teams up with Anna Green. They are top seeds, with Pashley & Jetha second.
In the Junior Girls’ Doubles, Earley & Pashley won last year but with the former no longer eligible, Pashley lines up with Sienna Jetha as top seeds, with Shute & Iles rated No 2.
See below for the full draws and follow the competition on our website this weekend – the Under-21s are in action on Saturday and the Juniors on Sunday.
