Two new Honorary Life Members were announced during Table Tennis England’s online AGM.

Tom Purcell and Susie Venner received the accolade in honour of their long and exceptional service to the sport.

Tom, who was a Board member of Table Tennis England from 2014-2022, has umpired gold medal matches at both the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Among many roles in Lancashire and Liverpool, he has been a member of the Liverpool League Management Committee for 20 years and is current Lancashire National Councillor.

Susie is also a former Board member, having served as Deputy Chair from 2013-2023.

She is currently Chair of the VETTS (Veterans English Table Tennis Society); Chair of Southport League, on the Lancashire Committee, General Secretary to the National Council, and a member of both the ETTU Veterans Committee and IVTTS Executive Council.

Seven stalwarts of the sport became Vice-Presidents, for their outstanding contributions to the sport over many years.

They are: Phil Ashleigh, Jonathan Bayliss, Teresa Bennett, Neil Brierley, Sue Hayes, Neil Robinson MBE and Paul Whiting.

Along with the new Vice-Presidents, a number of other annual honours were announced and presented, including the Keith Ponting President’s Memorial Award for exceptionally long and outstanding service to Table Tennis England, which was awarded posthumously to Harvey Webb.

There was one resolution on the agenda, to remove Article 3.6: Where the context so requires, the masculine gender includes the feminine. This was missed in 2024 when making the Articles gender neutral. The resolution was passed.
