Sienna Jetha and Abraham Sellado will pull on the GB shirt after being selected to compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival this summer.

The duo, who are multiple national champions and have represented England on the international stage, will compete at the event in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 20-26 July.

They are part of a 54-strong squad of athletes aged 13 to 18, in 10 sports – the largest squad Team GB has selected for an EYOF since 2009.

European Youth Olympic Festivals play an important role in the development of young British athletes, providing crucial multi-sport event experience and guiding them towards realising their Olympic ambitions as they compete alongside more than 4,000 athletes from 48 countries.

Abraham, who is 15 and from Bradford, said of his call-up: “It feels amazing. Growing up playing table tennis, I think everybody wants to represent their country, especially GB in a big event like this, so it’s an honour, really.

“The more events I go to and the more I get used to the environment, hopefully I can use that for future competitions. I just want to play well, do my best and see how far I go.”

16-year-old Sienna, from Watford, said: “I means a lot, every kid would want to wear the Olympic-branded shirt and it’s a great thing to achieve.

“I think you gain a lot of experience, a lot of confidence and see players from other countries and learn things from them. I’d love to play at the Olympic Games some day.”

This year’s British delegation will follow in the footsteps of some of Team GB’s most recognisable stars, including gymnast Nile Wilson, athlete Dina Asher-Smith and swimmer Duncan Scott, whose eight Olympic medals make him Britain’s most successful EYOF alumni.

Rachel Smith, Team GB Chef de Mission for Skopje 2025, said: “For many of our athletes, this will be their first opportunity to wear the Team GB kit and connect with the Olympic Movement. A truly memorable experience and significant milestone in any athlete’s journey.

“The EYOF represents more than just a competition; it is where many of our Olympians began their journey with Team GB. Skopje 2025 will provide our next generation of athletes with a valuable introduction to a multi-sport environment and a platform to continue exploring their own version of extraordinary. I am looking forward to seeing the team in action and hope it proves to be a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.”
