London Academy defeated Bankfields 5-2 to win the title as the two best sides met in the deciding round.

It meant the Academy retained the Martin Foulser Cup

Two wins each for Alexia-Bianca Ciobanica and Suhayla Ali Farah sealed the victory, and the two also combined to win the doubles. Evie Main and Mila Gao won one each for Bankfields, but London Academy were always in charge, having led 2-0 and 4-1.

London Academy and Bankfields had both started with 7-0 wins, against Fox Primary and St Mary’s Preparatory respectively and then both repeated those scorelines in the reverse fixtures to set up their title decider in the final round.

Fox Primary sealed third placed with a 4-3 win over St Mary’s, though they had to come from 3-2 down to do it, with victories for Matilda Hopkins and Kaylee Zhixuan Zeng in the final two ties – tough on St Mary’s Nyasha Roberts, who won both singles and the doubles with Priscilla Dix.

Winning squad: Alexia-Bianca Ciobanica, Suhayla Ali Farah, Rea Kola, Iliona Kola, Darcey Parker.

The winning London Academy squad

London Academy regained the Irene Elliott Cup from Fox Primary, who had beaten them in last year’s final.

The margin in the rematch this year was 7-1 in favour of London Academy, who only lost two individual matches all day.

In the first round, London Academy had beaten St Mary’s Preparatory 8-0, while there was a 4-4 draw between HABS Boys Prep and Fox Primary.

That was a remarkable match in which HABS, from Elstree in Hertfordshire, came from behind four times and all four of their players won once – notably, Vihaan Mittal beat Odysseas Karaasev 3-2 (9-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-2, 11-7) in match 6 and Riki Shah defeated Colin Ho 3-2 (11-8, 2-11, 11-9, 8-11, 14-12) in the final match to clinch the draw.

The second round saw Fox whitewash St Mary’s 8-0, while London Academy overcame HABS 7-1.

HABS sealed third place with an 8-0 victory over St Mary’s, dropping only one individual game in the process.

The winning Kings line-up

The Kings (The Cathedral) School from Peterborough edged out London Academy to take the title and take the Hartshill Cup.

Both the top two won their opening two matches to set up their title decider – it was 7-0 for London Academy against Long Eaton and Woodford High and 5-2 scorelines for The Kings against the same opponents.

But in the final-round showdown, it was Kings who came out on top, taking a 2-0 lead as Amber Lemmon beat Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska in four and Hannah Saunders overcame Assil Sarri in three.

Serene Rahmani-Walentynska reduced the arrears by beating Diya Patel, but Saunders & Lemmon won a tight doubles against Sarri & Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska 3-2 (9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8) to restore the two-point advantage.

Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska gave London fresh hope by beating Saunders in four but the crucial point was taken by Lemmon, defeating Serene Rahmani-Walentynska in four. Sarri beat Patel in the final match, but it was academic by then.

Woodford High finished third as they beat Long Eaton 4-3 – a match they led 4-1 after two wins for Maisha Patel.

Winning squad: Hannah Saunders, Amber Lemmon, Diya Patel.

The winning London Academy squad

London Academy completed the perfect weekend as they beat Sevenoaks 8-0, confirming a whitewash of all three opponents to retain the T Austin Harrison Cup.

To add to the air of invincibility, they conceded only two games all day, with the rest a string of 3-0 victories.

London Academy earlier defeated Kings College and Altrincham Boys 8-0, while Sevenoaks registered a 5-3 success against Altrincham – a match which was delicately poised at 2-2 before Sevenoaks took three in a row, including a 3-2 (11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-13, 11-8) win for Alan Hunt over Andrey Kim in match 6 – and then beat Kings 7-1.

Kings took third place as they beat Altrincham 6-2, opening up a 4-0 lead although the first three all went to a deciding fifth game, as did two later matches. Altrincham lost four of those five, so the result could have been quite different on another day.

Winning squad: Adam Riadi, Yacoub Rahmani-Walentynski, Stefan Pop, Lewis MacSween.

The winning London Academy squad

London Academy won back the Mick Betts Memorial Cup, which they lost last year to Charles Read Academy, by beating St Marylebone in the final round.

Both teams were unbeaten to that point, but London opened up an unassailable 4-0 lead, ending the contest at that point.

None of the matches were done in three straight – and Alisha Dutta came from 2-0 down to beat Zeina Negm 3-2 (6-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6).

In the first round, London Academy defeated Arden Academy 7-0 and there was a 5-2 success for St Marylebone over Patcham in a hard-fought match in which only one tie was decided in three straight.

London enjoyed a second successive 7-0 win in round two as they defeated Patcham and St Marylebone edged out Arden 4-3 in a match which was poised at 2-0 when the victors won successive matches through Negm and Nour Alamine.

Patcham beat Arden Academy 4-3 to seal third place. Arden came back to level three times, but Isabel Knight won the crucial final match for Patcham.

Winning squad: Sienna Jetha, Alisha Dutta, Mauli Shah, Naomi Adjei.

The winning Charles Read Academy squad

Charles Read Academy retained the Leach-Carrington Cup as they beat closest rivals Reading School 5-3 in the crucial encounter.

Reading twice took the lead, but Ryan Holland’s 3-2 (11-8, 10-12, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8) win over Ethan Zeng left the tie poised at 2-2 and Abraham Sellado put Charles Read in front by beating Prayrit Ahluwalia to notch his second victory.

Rishaan Sawant then got his second win to level for Reading, but Holland’s second put Charles Read back in front.

The final match in the hall on the day saw Zeng face Tudor-Andrei Eftinca and the latter clinched the title for Charles Read as he won 3-1 ( 4-11, 11-7, 13-11, 12-10).

Charles Read opened with a 7-1 win over Tudor Grange, while Reading School defeated London Academy 5-3.

Reading actually lost the opener, but five wins in a row – including two for Ahluwalia – confirmed the victory before the Academy put a gloss on the final score.

Both matches in the second round finished 7-1 – Reading beating Tudor Grange and Charles Read sinking London Academy to set up their winner-take-all clash in the final round.

London Academy took third place as they reached an unassailable 5-1 lead over Tudor Grange.

Winning squad: Abraham Sellado, Harrison Hill, Ryan Holland, Tudor-Andrei Eftinca, Adam Watson

Putney High took the title and the Claud Kichenside Cup with a 4-1 win over Wallington in the final-round clash of two unbeaten teams.

Sisters Isabella and Eleanor Turner-Samuels won all four of the singles, bookending a fine 3-2 (8-11, 11-7, 1-11, 11-8, 13-11) doubles win for Kei Yin Ng & Man Yin Ng.

Putney High had begun the day with a 5-0 win over Rugby High, while it was a narrow 3-2 win for Wallington over Burnham Grammar, for whom Anna Piercey twice levelled with victories over Man Yin Ng and Kei Yin Ng. However, both Wallington players won a singles match and they combined to win the doubles.

Wallington defeated Rugby High 5-0 in round two, and there was a second successive 3-2 defeat for Burnham, this time at the hands of Putney. Once again, PIercey took both points for Burnham but the Turner-Samuels sisters won the other three between them.

Burnham finished on a high with a 4-1 win over Rugby. Piercey took her customary two, and combined to take the doubles with Vedashree Wagle, who herself won one singles.

Winning squad: Isabella Turner-Samuels, Eleanor Turner-Samuels.

Yan Masa Hiko was the only player to win two matches, the second of which – against Isaac Kingham – put his team 3-1 up. Ka Hei Liu extended the lead by beating Noah Levens.

Joseph Dennison reduced the arrears by beating Yiwei He 3-1 (11-6, 11-9, 11-13, 11-3) and Troy Whitham clinched the draw, and won the title for Grantham, by beating Charlie Wang 3-0 (11-4, 11-9, 11-0).

There was an 8-0 whitewash for Grantham in the first round, against Uppingham, while Ackworth and Warwick fought out a 4-4 draw. Ackworth led four times but each time were pegged back – on the final occasion by Ambrose Ho defeating Wang 3-1 (11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 15-13).

Ackworth bounced back in their second match, defeating Uppingham 8-0, while Grantham beat Warwick 6-2. Warwick beat Uppingham 8-0 to claim third place.
