It will be held at Middlesbrough Sports Village, with 16 tables, on the weekend of 3-4 May.

The competition will cover the same age groups and bands as became the norm on the Grand Prix circuit, with Men’s Singles and Women’s singles, six men’s Bands and four women’s Bands plus Under-21, Veterans and mixed Restricted events, ensuring that players are able to play in a number of events.

The Banded events take place on the Saturday and the other events on the Sunday and the competition has £2,680 prize money in total, with £320 for the winner of the Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles and prize money for all of the other events.

Cleveland has a notable history of hosting tournaments of this nature – the Cleveland Senior Open first ran in 1968 and has been run most years since.

In the 70s, 80s and 90s it was the Cleveland 5*, which attracted an entry from international teams including China, Japan, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Australia, New Zealand and several other important international teams, as the date was are generally the weekend before the English Open and teams came early to participate in team and individual events in Cleveland.
