Two bespoke Activator courses have recently been delivered, equipping teachers and community leaders with the skills and confidence to bring table tennis to their schools and local communities. These courses, designed to encourage participation and engagement, took place in Brighton and as part of the Ping in the Community programme in partnership with Everyone Active.
The first course was delivered to staff and volunteers working on community programmes run by Everyone Active, a key partner in the Ping in the Community initiative. This training equipped attendees with the expertise to set up and lead table tennis activities in local venues, helping to create welcoming and accessible spaces for people of all ages and abilities to get involved.
The second course, held in Brighton, was tailored for teachers looking to integrate table tennis into their schools. Participants from Portslade Aldridge Community Academy, Hove Junior School, Dorathy Springer School, Blatchington Mill School and Brighton Aldridge Community Academy all received hands-on training, learning how to facilitate fun and inclusive sessions that can be easily incorporated into school activities. By giving teachers the tools and knowledge to engage students in the sport, the course aims to foster a love for table tennis while promoting physical activity and social interaction.
Feedback from both courses has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants highlighting the engaging delivery, practical insights, and the confidence gained to lead table tennis sessions. By supporting teachers and community leaders, these Activator courses play a crucial role in expanding grassroots participation in table tennis and ensuring more people can enjoy the benefits of the sport.
With initiatives like these, table tennis continues to grow as a fun, inclusive, and accessible activity that brings people together and strengthens local communities. Keep an eye out for more upcoming opportunities to get involved!
