Double Paralympic medallist Bly Twomey put Blue Peter presenter Abby Cook to the test when the iconic children’s TV show visited Brighton TTC.

Abby, who in 2023 became the 42nd presenter in the history of the show – which dates back to 1958 – filmed a segment at the club for an Epic Sport Special which is available to watch on iPlayer until mid-June.

In it, she and Bly discussed the teenager’s incredible experience in Paris last year, when she won two Paralympic bronze medals t the age of just 14.

Bly told Abby: “It was a surreal experience. I went to the Paralympics just to have fun and just play table tennis and see what happened, but I just kept going and kept fighting and I came away with two bronze medals.”

Bly also spoke about how Brighton had helped her and how she is trying to put back into the club by coaching and inspiring youngsters, telling Abby: “It’s my second home and I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”

Abby, who uses a wheelchair, was given some expert tuition by Bly in serving and forehand techniques and was blown away when Bly demonstrated her skills at full tilt.
