The number of adults playing table tennis at least twice a month has risen, according to the latest Actives Lives report released by Sport England.
The survey found that 388,700 adults (aged 16+) had taken part in the sport at least twice in the last 28 days when the survey was carried out between November 2023 and November 2024.
That equates to about 0.8% of the population and is an increase of 11% since the previous Active Lives survey report a year ago.
About 258,500 men in England participate in table tennis at least twice a month (about 1.1% of the male population), up 6% since the previous survey report.
About 127,700 women in England participate in table tennis at least twice a month (about 0.5% of the female population). This has risen by 22% since the previous survey report.
The 2023-24 Active Lives Children and Young People Survey report shows that about 288,000 children and young people in school Years 1-11 in England participate in table tennis in any given week (about 3.9% of the population).
About 195,003 boys in school Years 1-11 participate in the sport in any given week (about 5.2% of the population), while about 88,598 girls in school Years 1-11 participate in any given week (about 2.4% of the population).
