No fewer than 23 leagues are represented at this weekend’s English Leagues Cup Competitions (ELCC) finals.

Three reigning champions will be back to defend their titles at Draycott TTC, but it is potentially a wide-open event across the four categories, with the number of leagues represented in total coming in at six more than last season.

Leagues battled through zonal competitions to take their place in the finals. No league has qualified in all four competitions and only one – Derby – will go for glory in three categories.

Central London, Leamington Spa, Loughborough, Norwich and Nottingham have the chance to win two trophies.

The English Leagues Cup Competition is the oldest domestic competition run by Table Tennis England, with the Wilmott Cup for Senior Men having been first staged in 1935.

The JM Rose Bowl for Senior Women began in 1939, and the Carter Cup and Bromfield Trophy, for Junior Boys and Junior Girls respectively, were added in 1966.

The defending champions are Central London in the Wilmott Cup, Wembley & Harrow (pictured above) in the Carter Cup and Derby in the Bromfield Cup – the latter are targeting a fourth successive victory, which would be an unprecedented achievement in the history of that category.

The JM Rose Bowl will have new winners as champions Leicester did not enter. However, one of last year’s winning pair will be back as Catherine Lv has now teamed up with Naomi Coker to represent Derby – Lv actually defeated her new team-mate in last year’s final.

The Senior events will be played on Saturday 4 July and Junior events on Sunday 5 July. Click below to see the programme, including draws.
