London Academy took three titles and a total of eight were decided at the Butterfly Schools Team Finals at WV Active Wolverhampton.
With the event expanded this year to feature up to eight teams in each category, champions were crowned in boys’ and girls’ events at Under-11, Under-13, Under-16 and Under-19.

Under-11 Girls

London Academy defeated Gladstone Road Primary School 6-1 in the final to take the title and the Martin Foulser Cup.
Not that it was as straightforward as the score suggested, with two matches going to a decider – Rea Kola beat Alexandra Michalik 3-2 (7-11, 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6) and then Kola & Darcey Parker beat Michalik & Chloe Manalastas 3-2 (9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-9).
It was Michalik who got Gladstone Road on the board in the final match, defeating Sophia Shokoohideh.
London Academy reach the final by defeating Pearl Hyde Community Primary 7-0 in the quarter-finals and Fox Primary 5-2 in the semis.
Gladstone Road’s path to the final saw them beat St Clement’s Catholic Primary 7-0 and Ashford Prep 6-1.
Fox Primary took third with a 5-2 win over Ashford.

Under-11 Boys

London Academy completed an age group double but only after shaking off stubborn opponents from Haberdashers’ School in the final to win the Irene Elliott Cup.
A relative ‘local derby’ with only a few miles separating Edgware from Elstree, it was a tight match which saw Haberdashers twice come from a match down to level it at 2-2 at the halfway point – the pick of the matches a 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 13-15, 10-12, 11-7) win for London’s David Ciurea over Roshan Jobanputra.
London Academy moved 4-2 ahead as Dominic Rimmy completed a personal double, but Riki Shah kept Habs in it with a 3-2 (14-12, 11-7, 4-11, 7-11, 11-5) victory over Kiasha Beheshti. David Luca Dobrita won it for the Academy by winning the final match in four against Jobanputra.
In the semi-finals, it was 4-3 for Haberdashers over Churchfield Junior School and 5-0 for London Academy against Shakespeare Primary. Churchfields beat Shakespeare 5-2 to take third place.

Under-13 Girls

The King’s (The Cathedral) School won the round-robin competition with five wins out of five, conceding only seven individual matches all day to win the Hartshill Cup.
The runners-up were London Academy, who actually lost only six individual matches – but, crucially, five of those were in the 5-2 defeat to The King’s, for whom Hannah Saunders and Amber Lemmon had 100% records all day.
Saunders was pushed by Serene Rahmani-Walentynska when the top two met, Saunders winning 3-2 (11-2, 13-15, 11-6, 9-11, 11-3).
Third place went to Laurence Jackson School, who lost to the top two but won their three other matches.

Under-13 Boys

St Paul’s claimed the title as they came from behind to defeat Haberdashers’ School 5-3 in the final of the T Austin Harrison Cup.
Aditya Johri Sethi won two for Habs, who led 1-0 and 2-1 and then equalised at 3-3. But victories for Theo Cleanis and Alexander Lundgren clinched it for St Paul’s.
In the semi-finals, St Paul’s defeated Wallington County Grammar 5-3, with Daniel Bordalo’s 3-2 (10-12, 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7) win over Toshiro Franklin in Match 7 proving crucial. Haberdashers beat The Judd School 6-2.
Wallington County took third place with a 6-2 victory over The Judd School.

Under-16 Girls

London Academy lost only one individual match all day as they beat Kendrick School 6-1 in the quarter-finals, Arden Academy 7-0 in the semis and The St Marylebone CE School 4-0 in the final of the Mick Betts Memorial Cup.
St Marylebone had reached the final with matching 5-2 victories over Dorothy Stringer School and then Cape Cornwall School.
Arden Academy took third courtesy of a 6-1 triumph over Cape Cornwall.

Under-16 Boys

Charles Read Academy dominated the competition, not dropping an individual match all day as they beat Marling School 8-0 in the quarter-finals, Reading School by the same score in the semi-finals and London Academy 6-0 in the final.
London Academy’s run to the final of the Leach-Carrington Cup saw them beat The Liverpool Blue Coat School 7-1 and Dorothy Stringer School 4-3.
Reading School and Dorothy Stringer School drew 4-4 in the match for third and fourth places, with Reading taking it 15-14 on sets countback.
Full finishing order: 1 Charles Read Academy, 2 London Academy, 3 Reading School, 4 Dorothy Stringer School, 5 The King’s (The Cathedral) School, 6 The Liverpool Blue Coat School, 7 Marling School, 8 Warwick School.

Under-19 Girls

Nobody could touch Dr Challoner’s High School duo Sienna Jetha and Mia Lakhani as they won all three of their matches 5-0 against Prince Henry’s High, St Mary’s College and St George’s Catholic School.
In the round-robin competition for the Claud Kichenside Cup, St Mary’s beat St George’s 3-2 and Prince Henry’s 5-0 to take second place, while third went to St George’s, defeating Prince Henry’s 3-2.
Full finishing order: 1 Dr Challoner’s High School, 2 St Mary’s College, 3 St George’s Catholic School, 4 Prince Henry’s High School.
Winning squad: Sienna Jetha, Mia Lakhani.
Under-19 Boys

Grantham College and Reading School shared a 4-4 draw in the final, but it was Grantham who took the verdict on countback to lift the Norman Cook Cup.
None of the final matches were decided in three games and it was Reading who made the early running, opening up a 3-0 lead, the last of which was a 3-2 (11-6, 8-11, 10-12, 12-10, 12-10) win for Ethan Zeng over Mason Neil.
Grantham College hit back by winning the next three matches, but Rishaan Sawant then put Reading back in front with a 3-2 (8-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-8) victory over Troy Thorpe.
But Neil overcame Sahil Tekurkar 3-2 (8-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9) to seal it for Grantham.
In the semi-finals, it was 8-0 for both Grantham and Reading, against Tudro Grange Academy and Dr Challoner’s Grammar School respectively. Tudor Grange beat Dr Challoner’s 6-2 to take third place.
