There is all to play for in the Men’s Premier Division, while the Women’s looks a little more cut and dried as the Veterans’ British Clubs League plays to a finish this weekend.

Defending champions Ormesby lead the way in the men’s top division, though only on sets ratio from Bribar Knighton Park, with both teams having won three and drawn two – including against each other – on Weekend 1.

With Topspin Fusion only two points back from the leading pair and boasting the No 1 player in the rankings in Lorestas Trumpauskas, the outcome of the title could be unclear until the later reaches of the competition.

Topspin will have their chance to make a move when they play Knighton Park on Saturday evening, followed by Ormesby on Sunday morning, and if those matches do not result in any decisive moves, then the clash between Ormesby and KP in the final round on Sunday afternoon will sort it all out.

No players were unbeaten on Weekend 1, reflecting the strength of the division, and the title challengers all have the same squads on duty this time out – can KP win back the title they won in 2023 and lost to Ormesby last season, or will Fusion overcome both?

The women’s Premier sees champions Ellenborough with a four-point lead over Foresters and Bribar Deighton having won all five matches on Weekend 1 and only dropped four individual meetings.

With the same quartet to call on – all top-10 ranked players, including unbeaten Hurey Ahmetoglu, the chasing pack will really have their work cut out.

Champions will be decided in 14 divisions, with almost exactly 400 players due to be action at Derby Arena and satellite venue Draycott & Long Eaton TTC.
