England’s two Junior teams, and the Cadet Boys, maintained 100% records to top their groups in the first stage of the team competitions at the European Youth Championships in Belgrade.

Mari Baldwin’s pair of three-game victories saw the Junior Girls to a 3-1 win over Finland, with Anaya Patel also on the scoresheet, in five games, while Jasmin Wong (pictured above) lost in four.

The Junior Boys beat Latvia 3-0, though Connor Green needed five games against Daniels Kogans to put the first win on the board before Louis Price and Ben Piggott completed the victory.

Larry Trumpauskas, Ralph Pattison and Jakub Piwowar combined for the Cadet Boys to beat Luxembourg 3-0.

The Cadet Girls were beaten 3-2 by Italy in their final group match and consequently finished third in the group. Sienna Jetha and Ella Pashley both beat Sofia Minurri, but Giulia Varveri’s double carried the day for Italy, who also won the doubles in five against Jetha and Maliha Baig.

The positional play-off stages begin in all competitions tomorrow.
