Table Tennis England is partnering with High Speed Training to deliver free safeguarding training for welfare officers and refresher courses for coaches.

Anyone needing to take the course or undertake a refresher can click here to find out more and take the course.

It is a fully online course and assessment, with no time limit – the approximate duration is between one and two hours.

The course is endorsed by the NSPCC and developed with Paul Stewart, former England international and Safeguarding Trainer for the English Football League.

It also features contributions from household sporting names including Gary Lineker, Kevin Sinfield and Kelly Cates.

Table Tennis England Coaching and Education Manager Aled Howell said: “A common theme in responses to our recent coaching survey was the cost of a Coach Licence, so I’m delighted we’ve been able to take those comments on board and put this free renewal course in place to reduce the cost for coaches and make the Coach Licence even more affordable.”

Table Tennis England Safeguarding and Ethics Manager, Judy Rogers, recently participated in the Safeguarding in Sport podcast with Paul Stewart to discuss the importance of safeguarding and what sports clubs can do to keep children safe.

Stewart, who played for Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham during his career, was one of the first players to come forward in 2016 with details of historical abuse at the hands of a youth-team coach.

He discusses his own experiences of abuse in sports as a child, and why he created the free Safeguarding in Sport course with High Speed Training.

Judy speaks about her experiences of more than 20 years working in the area of safeguarding.
