From the Crewe & District League comes another brilliant example of age being no barrier to enjoying and competing in table tennis.

In the second division of the two-a-side summer league, Crewe Central Bears played against Crewe Central Jaguars.

The fixture saw the Bears team of Tom Osborne and Dave Prince, with a combined age of 157, take on the Jaguars’ Alex Peretti and Jensen Owen, with a combined age of 23 – a difference of 134 years between the two teams’ ages.

Dave Prince reports that it was a hard-fought and competitive match with lots of fun too.

He added: “Ages didn’t matter. One team was breathing a bit heavy at the end, I’m not saying which one, but it showed how table tennis does transcend the generations.

“The old men sneaked a win but won’t be able to get out of bed in the morning!”
