Tin-Tin Ho came tantalisingly close to defeating world No 84 Britt Eerland at the WTT Feeder Otocec in Slovenia.

National champion Ho, currently ranked at No 166, led her Dutch opponent 2-1. Eerland hit back in the fourth, but Ho then led 8-6 and looked set for a place in the last 16. However, Eerland peeled off five points in a row to take the victory.

Earlier, in the round of 64, Ho had defeated Italy’s Nicole Arlia (WR 198) in three straight.

Welch duo Anna Hursey and Charlotte Carey both exited in the round of 64. Hursey (WR 95) was defeated by eight seed Lee Eunhye of South Korea (WR 62) in four games, while Carey (WR 252) was beaten in five by Japan’s Misuzu Takeya (WR 344), having led 2-1.
