Drumchapel Glasgow are set to host Fusion on Saturday (31st May) for the final match of the 2024-25 Senior British Clubs League Premier Division.
Both teams are propping up the league, however there is plenty to play for. Whilst an inferior sets ratio means that Drumchapel Glasgow will be unable to leapfrog this weekend’s opponents, they are sure to lay it all on the line for a second victory of the campaign.
In a tough season they have been on the end of some dominant performances, but in Aaron McKibbin, Danny Bajwa and Victor Guang Shi have players capable of turning over many teams.
Fusion meanwhile are looking to do the double after a 6-1 win against the Scottish side in November. Shaquille Webb Dixon, a mainstay of the Fusion squad, picked up a player of the match award that time out. It has been the Trumpauskas show for much of the year, with father-son duo Lorestas and Larry (pictured) playing eight and seven matches of the season respectively.
The tie comes just 14 days after Brighton secured back-to-back league titles. They came out on top of a winner-takes-all showdown with last season’s runners up Ormesby. In a thrilling finale the south coast side edged out their rivals 4-3.
This weekend’s fixture will bring to a close what has been an enthralling campaign, with storylines across up and down the league. From the season-long battle for top spot between Ormesby and Brighton to the hard-fought points by those below. It is also the final match of the Premier Division in its current format. From next season the league is to move from home-and-away to a hosted weekend format following consultation with clubs.
