A contingent of 14 athletes will represent England at the European Youth Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, which start on July 6.

The full squad is:

Junior girls: Anaya Patel, Mari Baldwin, Jasmin Wong, Amy Marriott

Junior boys: Connor Green, Ben Piggott, Louis Price, Felix Thomis

Cadet girls: Maliha Baig, Sienna Jetha, Ella Pashley

Cadet boys: Larry Trumpauskas, Jakub Piwowar, Ralph Pattison

Patel, Baig and Trumpauskas are automatic selections by virtue of winning singles gold in their respective categories at this year’s Mark Bates Ltd Cadet, U17 and Junior National Championships.

Head of England Performance Matt Stanforth said: “As many will be aware, the European Youth Championships is the pinnacle event in the youth calendar and is a fantastic and exciting event to compete in.

“This season, with the opening up of travel international, players have had the opportunity to compete and training much more than last year and we look forward to working with the selected players at this year’s championships.

“Last year, the pandemic severely restricted the ability to practise and in most instances prevented the players from being able to compete internationally leading into the championships. In addition, a covid outbreak affected nearly 50% of the selected players at the time, significantly impacting the team.

“We hope that this years’ championships will be free of these distractions and wish the players and staff the very best of luck.”
