England will be looking to retain their team titles, as well as going in search of individual gold at the Primary Schools International this weekend.

Jersey TTA is hosting the tournament, which involves teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Guernsey, as well as England and the hosts.

It starts on Friday and continues through to Sunday, with both team and individual competitions.

When England hosted the tournament last Easter, they won both team titles. Hannah Saunders and Amber Lemmon, both part of the winning girls’ team (pictured above), are also competing this year.

Both were also individual medallists – Saunders taking silver and Lemmon bronze.

The head of the England delegation is Gail Johns and umpires Paul Nichols and James Pettigrew are also travelling to Jersey.

Gail Johns said: “We’re delighted to have selected such a strong squad. We hope the experience of playing international competition early in the players’ table tennis careers will help them progress successfully in the future.

“We have some players who have previously competed in this international event, as well as players making their England Schools debut.

“Thank you to the schools’ county secretaries for nominating the players, and we hope to see these and many others at the Butterfly National Schools Individual and Team Finals at the end of April, where selection for the Senior Schools Internationals and World Schools will be considered.”

The full England squads are:

Boys (Non-Playing Captain Dave Pilkington): Zaid Aldilimi (St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, Central London), Li Hao Chen (Linchfield Catholic Primary School, Lincolnshire), Rishaan Sawant (Southlake Primary School, Berkshire), Malek Shamakh (Netherfield Primary School, Nottingham).

Girls (Non-Playing Captain Teresa Bennett): Hannah Saunders (The King’s (The Cathedral) School, Peterborough), Amber Lemmon (Hampton Hargate Primary School, Peterborough), Cindy Xiao (Woodston Primary School, Peterborough), Serene Rahmani-Walentynska (London Academy, North London).
