Do you know a school that has got young people playing table tennis? If so, why not nominate them for the School of the Year Category in the Pride of Table Tennis Awards?

This award recognises Schools that have, in the last 12 months, made significant impact in developing young people through table tennis.

This could be through increasing the number of pupils participating, providing opportunities to compete, developing links with the wider table tennis community and/or creating leadership opportunities for pupils

Perhaps you know a school like the award winners in 2021, Christchurch Primary School in Ilford. The school was able to create an infrastructure of table tennis through supportive teachers, purchasing tables and providing after-school sessions with an external coach.

By doing so, pupils from the school were able to play in the Jack Petchey qualifiers, their first ever competitive experience, with the girls qualifying for the finals and one pupil winning the U11 competition.

The school has really bought into table tennis with various sessions each week, engaging a large number of children in the process, with many who then go on to play at secondary school and at table tennis clubs.

Claire Warner, Clubs, Leagues and Schools Manager, at Table Tennis England, said: “The Pride of Table Tennis Awards presents a fantastic opportunity to recognise those schools which are going above and beyond to develop their young people through table tennis.

“We see lots of brilliant examples of this – through schools participating in the Jack Petchey Foundation programme in London and Essex, through the TT Kidz for Schools programme and of course the Butterfly National Schools Competitions – and I’m sure there are many other inspiring examples!

“Thank you to all schools who are delivering a great table tennis experience, and we look forward to receiving your nominations!”

Do you know an inspirational School who is worthy of a Pride of Table Tennis award? If so, now is the time to nominate them!

Nominations close at 11:59pm Sunday 4th December.
