Liam Pitchford & Paul Drinkhall went out of the Men’s Doubles at the Singapore Smash as their opponents fought back from 2-0 down.

The No 1 English pair were seeded eighth and were up against Jakub Dyjas of Poland and Belgium’s Cedric Nuytinck in the last 16.

It all looked good for Pitchford & Drinkhall as they took a 2-0 lead, but their opponents wrestled the initiative in their favour and won the next three, with the English duo unable to engineer any match points.

The defeat ended English interest in the event – Pitchford was knocked out of the singles by Qiu Dang, while Drinkhall, Tom Jarvis, Sam Walker and Tin-Tin Ho went out in the qualifying rounds.
