On our continued quest to build the network of Ping Pong Parlours to pre-pandemic levels, Table Tennis England are delighted to announce our continued partnerships with shopping centres nationwide, who will host our award winning Ping Pong Parlours.

In recent months, we’ve seen Parlours from Surrey to Sunderland open/re-open their doors, and with the introduction of Table Tennis England’s Area Manager network, hope to double our provision and ensure parlour presence in each of our 7 focus areas.

A Ping Pong Parlour has returned to Harrogate’s Victoria Shopping Centre and has been set up by Harrogate Business Improvement District. The new addition will be open for seven days a week during retail hours.

It includes four table tennis tables and bats and balls are provided.

This is ever popular with workers and students alike and evidentially brings people into town. It is open until mid-July before it will take a short break for the Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebrations’ immersive exhibition. It will then return and run through to the autumn.

“Table tennis is a great sport, and anyone can play it, no matter how young or how old. This parlour is for the public to use, free of charge. All we ask is that if there are a lot of people wanting to play, then please be sensible and don’t hog the tables too long. Give others a chance.

But, what are they?

Ping Pong Parlours are informal table tennis venues for people to pop into and play, free of charge and without having to book, and typically occupy empty retail spaces in shopping centres.

They are open to everyone, but are particularly aimed at those who would not normally play sport, and provide people with an introduction to the sport in a relaxed, informal setting in a place where they already spend time.

There are also opportunities for clubs, leagues and coaches to engage with players at Parlours and offering further playing opportunities as well as hosting sessions within the centres. Connect with your Area Manager to find out more.

How can I find my nearest?

You can find more information on Ping Pong Parlours via our dedicated page as well as find your nearest opportunity to play.
