Ormesby are just one win away from claiming the Senior British League Premier Division crown. They host Ormeau on Saturday with a victory set to hand them the title with one fixture remaining in the season.

Ryan Jenkins, Sam Mabey and Josh Weatherby will make up the Ormesby side. Mabey, who has been in scintillating form this year, is yet to lose a singles match.

Ormeau will field a side that include SBL debutant Zak Earley. He will play alongside his brother Thomas and Matt Ware.

Gervis Knox, co-founder of Ormeau, said: “We were delighted with our last home game with our guys doing the business against a strong North Ayrshire team.

“Matt Ware dug it out in the 5th against Colin to get us started and great performances from Matt, Oriol & Zak gave us a 6-1 win leaving us comfortable in second place.

“Unfortunately we trail Ormesby by too many points to take the title, but we feel we can give them a battle. Overall it’s been an excellent season for us and we strive to finish strong.”

Saturday also marks 50 years since Ormesby’s men’s team won the European Club Cup Championship. Three members of the 1972 team are set to be at the fixture that starts at 15:00. You can watch the tie live on Ormesby’s Facebook page.

In the bottom half of the Premier Division, Fusion take on BATTS at 14:00

Fixtures between the two south London teams always prove to be entertaining, hard-fought and close affairs.

The Bennett brothers (Jack and Joshua) will be back in action for BATTS after recently coming within one point of qualifying for the European Cup finals. 14-year-old Ralph Pattison is included in the team after a late withdrawal from Shayan Siraj who has picked up a leg injury. Pattison has the honour of currently being the youngest player to play in the Premier Division.

Fusion are expected to play Lorestas Trumpauskas who has featured in every match so far this season.
