Senior England international and newly crowned Under-21 National Cup winner Ella Pashley leads an English contingent with plenty of experience heading to the WTT Youth Contender Szombathely in Hungary.

No fewer than 16 young athletes from England will be competing in multiple age groups in the city near the border with Austria.

The competition gets under way on Thursday – look out for latest news every day on our website and social media channels and follow live streams on the WTT YouTube channel.

Pashley (pictured above), who has competed at the London 2026 World Team Championships and the European Championships this year, is in an Under-19 girls’ singles category which is headed by world No 23 Junior Kokomi Ishida of Japan, who at just 14 years old is approaching the top 300 in the Senior rankings.

Also in the girls’ categories, Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska is in the Under-17 and Under-15 age groups.

On the boys’ side of the draw, Max Radiven is the highest-ranked English athlete, at seventh seed in the Under-17 Boys’ Singles and eighth in the Under-19s as he looks to add to his collection of WTT medals, which includes an Under-19 Mixed Doubles gold from the Youth Contender in Kosovo last season.

With no one in the draw ranked higher than No 75 in the world – Nikkhil Mannath of India is top seed – No 137 Radiven and his compatriots have a good opportunity to pick up some victories.

Abraham Sellado, Rohan Dani and Isaac Kingham have also won medals on this stage in previous seasons and all compete in the Under-19s, along with Jake Davidson and Olivier Chu.

Radiven, Sellado and Davidson double up in the Under-17s category. They are joined at that level by Oscar Nikolli, Pablo Ramirez Rioja, Zihan Lin and Kai Lun Chow – all except Lin have previously won WTT medals.

Each of that quartet also compete in the Under-15s, while Lusio Wen is in the Under-15s and Under-13s and Hayfield Lam, Jonti Barnes and Sebastian Li are in the Under-13s and Under-11s.

There are also Mixed Doubles competitions at both Under-19 and Under-15 age groups, with three pairs in the higher age group involving English players, including Pashley alongside Scotland’s Gavin Yuan.

Two left-handed boys team up with girls from other countries – Radiven with Lara Benko of Croatia and Davidson alongside Weronika Wszolek of Poland.

In the Under-15 Mixed, Chow & Rahmani-Walentynska make up an all-English pairing, while Ramirez Rioja competes alongside Nadalia Ionascu of Romania.
