England have avoided the top three seeds in the draw for the Junior Boys’ Team events at the European Youth Championships.

England were promoted back into the top tier at the event last year (pictued above) and are seeded 15th. They will face fourth seeds Spain, along with Sweden and Switzerland, in Group D. France are the top seeds, ahead of Poland and Slovakia.

England’s Junior girls, featuring World Championships pair Ella Pashley and Tianer Yu, face not one but two Home Nations battles as they take on Scotland and Ireland.

They are in the second tier and line up in Group F, with Moldova, Bosnia Herzegovina completing the group.

In the Cadet competition, England boys are in the top tier and seeded 13th and have been drawn in a tough-looking Group A along with top seeds Spain, France and Romania.

The Cadet girls are in second-tier Group F with Slovakia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro and Cyprus.

The Championships are in Gondomar, Portugal and the team competitions kick off on Friday, with the finals on Tuesday.

The draw for the individual events is on Sunday and the events begin next Wednesday. The competition finishes on Sunday 19 July.
