The top four pairs have made it through to the semi-finals after the first two rounds of the Mixed Doubles at the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships in Nottingham.

The quarter-finals were pretty smooth sailing, with only second seeds Joseph Hunter & Sophie Earley dropping a game, as they beat Nahom Asgedom & Luna Archard 3-1 (9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-2).

It was 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-6) for twins and defending champions Connor & Anna Green against Kacper Piwowar & Brooke Morris – the winners will play Hunter & Earley on Saturday.

In the top half, Sam Walker & Tin-Tin Ho overcame Andrew Baggaley & Rebecca Savage 3-0 (3, 8, 5) and Chris Doran & Mari Baldwin (pictured above) won in three against Josh Bennett & Letitia McMullan (16-14, 11-5, 11-9).

Earlier, in the first round, it was a similar story as again only Hunter & Earley of the four seeded pairs dropped a game, against Isaac Kingham & Mabel Shute.

There were a couple of close games, though – Piwowar & Morris beating Max Radiven & Rachael Iles 3-2 (11-7, 4-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-8) and Asgedom & Archard defeating Jakub Piwowar & Ella Pashley 3-2 (11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8).
