TT Kidz for Schools

Accessible table tennis for schools

With physical literacy at its heart and a comprehensive resource pack of over 70 activity cards and supporting videos, teachers will be supported to deliver TT Kidz to their primary school-aged pupils with little or no table tennis background.

Whether in PE lessons or extra-curricular clubs, TT Kidz can help grow participation in physical activity and support the physical, social and mental development and wellbeing of children in primary school.

TT Kidz provides a fun and supportive environment where children can enjoy being active, build positive relationships and develop confidence that can transfer into other areas of school life.

Table tennis is an accessible and adaptable sport that is easy to introduce in primary schools. Activities can be easily adapted to suit different abilities and levels of experience, allowing every child to participate, experience success and progress at their own pace.

TT Kidz will be released for schools in due course. To be notified about when it is available, please complete the form further down this page.

TT Kidz supports children to develop key physical literacy skills through fun, active and engaging activities. The programme develops co-ordination, agility, balance and movement, alongside essential bat-and-ball control.

Activities also build fundamental movement competencies, including:

  • Locomotor skills: walking, running, skipping and jumping
  • Stability skills: balancing, landing, bending and twisting
  • Manipulation skills: catching, throwing and striking

These skills provide children with strong foundations for table tennis and wider physical activity.

TT Kidz helps pupils develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and communication skills, creating positive experiences of being active and helping children feel part of their school community.

Through games, activities and challenges, pupils can set goals and achieve personal bests, such as beating their longest rally or completing a new challenge.

Children are given opportunities to experiment, make mistakes and try again, improving their skills over time whilst learning to listen to others, communicate clearly, work together, solve problems and encourage their peers.

You must be a School/College member of Table Tennis England to access and deliver TT Kidz. You can sign up to membership for free here.

TT Kidz is designed for Years 3 to 6, with the Bronze level adaptable for Key Stage 1 pupils.

The activities require minimal equipment and can be adapted to the facilities available. We recommend one bat per participant and plenty of balls, but a full-size table tennis table isn’t required.

With plenty of off-the-table activities and the option to use roll-nets on school desks or tables, the programme can work in a variety of school spaces.
