Tin-Tin Ho bowed out of the European Championships as she was defeated in five close games by the No 3 seed.

Ho, buoyed by beating 19th seed Sara De Nutte in the previous round, was up against Sofia Polcanova of Austria in the last 32.

She was in every game but did not quite have enough to get over the line as Polcanova generally had the best of the key points.

The exception was the fourth game, when Ho (pictured above) held a 10-4 lead on her way to eventually winning it 11-9. The margin had been the same in Polcanova’s favour in the first three matches, and it was 11-8 in in the fifth as the Austrian advanced to the last 16.

It leaves only Liam Pitchford to represent England and his next match is at 9.50 UK time on Friday against Portugal’s Tiago Apolonia. The match is on table 4 – click here to watch live on ETTU TV.
