Max Radiven is into the quarter-finals of the Under-17 Boys’ Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Spa in Belgium.

Radiven (pictured above) has dropped only two games so far, including in his last-16 tie against Belgium’s Matt Closset. Seeded fifth, Radiven faces fourth seed Titouan Morel-Gonzales of France in the quarter-finals on Tuesday afternoon. Radiven is ranked one place lower than his opponent in the junior world rankings, at No 122.

Pablo Ramirez Rioja went out to top seed Sandro Cavaille of France in the last 16, and Abraham Sellado exited at the same stage to eighth seed Aaron Sahr of Luxembourg, both in four games.

Ramirez Rioja had a good win in the previous round, 14-12 in the fifth against higher-ranked Tim Escudier of France.

Sinan Surensoy reached the last 32, where he was beaten by the ninth seed Noah Tessier of France in three close games. He had made it through to the knockouts by virtue of a 12-10 in-the-fifth win over higher-ranked Spyros Sarigiannidis of Luxembourg.

Jake Davidson went out in the group stage but lost both his matches 3-2, including leading the second seed Jan Skalda of Czechia 2-0 before missing out 8-11, 8-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-3.

Oscar Nikolli also lost his two group matches, including to sixth seed Lowis Vogler of Switzerland.

In the corresponding girls’ singles, Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska won one of her three group matches but that was not enough to make it through to the knockout stage.

In the Under-13 Boys’ Singles, third seed Lusio Wen got through as group runner-up, losing out 11-9 in the fifth to Andry Ramanantsialonina of Luxembourg. Wen was defeated in the last 16 by Leo Reding, also of Luxembourg.

The Under-15 and Under-19 singles are yet to begin.

In the Under-19 Mixed Doubles, Sellado & Eva Gao of Germany got through their first-round match against Dutch opponents, but were eliminated in the round of 16 by Erik Paulina & Manon Loth of Italy, despite fighting back from 2-0 down and winning the fourth game 15-13. The decider was 11-9 to the Italian pair.

Kingham, playing with Jersey’s Hannah Silcock, went out in the first round to Noah Hersel & Loreena Morsch of Germany.

In the Under-15s, Nikolli & Rahmani-Walentynska won their first match against a Belgian pair in three straight and were then knocked out in the round of 16 by France’s Quentin Sandona & Lulie Duchet in four.

Surensoy & Mila Niu of Germany went out in the first round to Spyros Sarigiannidis of Luxembourg & Lizett Fazekas of Croatia.
