Eleven out of 13 English youngsters are safely through to the knockout stages of the singles events at the European Youth Championships in Belgrade.

Mari Baldwin won her group in the Junior Girls, while Amy Marriott, Anaya Patel (pictured above) and Jasmin Wong are through as group runners-up. Wong lost an all-British group match to Anna Hursey of Wales 3-2 (11-5, 10-12, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5).

Connor Green and Felix Thomis both topped their groups with 100% records in the Junior Boys, while Ben Piggott and Louis Price went through as group runners-up.

In the Cadet Boys, both Larry Trumpauskas and Ralph Pattison won one and lost one to go through as group runners-up and join Jakub Piwowar, who is seeded 15th, in the knockouts.

In the Cadet Girls, Sienna Jetha qualified with two wins from her three matches, losing the third in a deciding set. However, Malihai Baig and Ella Pashley went out, though Pashley was eliminated in a three-way tie having picked up a fine 3-2 (8-11, 12-14, 13-11, 11-7, 11-8) comeback win over Daria Kovalova of Ukraine.

In two junior mixed doubles first-round matches featuring English players, Marriott went through alongside Mihael Kocjancic of Slovenia, but Patel and partner Stephany Loris of Luxembourg went out.
