Tom Jarvis & Connor Green combined to reach the Men’s Doubles main draw at WTT Feeder Dusseldorf, but there was no joy for any of the English players in the singles.

Jarvis & Green defeated Guilherme Teodoro & Carlos Ishida of Brazil 3-0 in the qualifying round, taking the first 13-11 and adding the next two 11-8 and 11-6, helped by a run of five points from 10-5 in the third.

In the round of 16, they faced Germany’s Benno Oehme & Kirill Fadeev and the match hinged on a tight first game in which the English pair saved a game point but missed four of their own, eventually losing 16-14. The Germans won the next two 11-3, 11-7 to advance to the quarter-finals.

In the singles, Jarvis and Louis Price (pictured above) were both defeated in a deciding game. Price (WR 868) saved three match points in his first qualifying round tie with Sanzhar Zhubanov of Kazakhstan (WR 346), including one at 9-10 in the fourth, which he went on to take 12-10. He saved two more at 5-10 in the decider before eventually bowing out.

Jarvis (WR 175) had a bye into the second qualifying round, where he faced France’s Florian Bourrassaud (WR 296). He led 1-0 and then fought back from 2-1 down to level, but was beaten 11-5 in the fifth.

Shayan Siraj (WR 869) took on the world No 209 Juan Perez of Spain in the second qualifying round and was beaten in three, while Green (WR 434) went out in the first qualifying round in four games to Germany’s unranked Kirill Fadeev.

In the Women’s Singles, Mari Baldwin (WR 629) went out in three to Japan’s unranked Yokoi Sakura.
