Dimitar Dimitrov won his second WTT Youth Contender title in as many months by claiming the Under-11 Boys’ Singles gold at the WTT Youth Feeder Vila Real in Portugal.

Dimitrov (pictured above), who won the same age group at the event in Antalya, Turkey, in January, was defeated 3-1 in his opening group match by Joao Costa of the host nation, but bounced back to win his next match an qualify for the semi-finals.

He then defeated a Spanish opponent in four, before turning the tables on Costa in the final with an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Dimitrov also reached the quarter-finals of the Under-13 Boys’ Singles, having won all four of his group matches and then received a bye into the last eight. He was defeated by Nolan Johnston of France, who went on to win the title.

Oscar Nikolli and Nishil Shah webt out in the group stage, though both won two of their four matches and Nikolli pushed top seed Alexander Malov of Spain to a deciding game before losing, while Shah was twice beaten in a decider.

Nikolli, Nishil Shah and Janak Shah could not qualify for the knockouts in the under-15s, though Janak Shah won one of his three matches. He also had the same outcome in the under-17s.

Ralph Pattison got through to the last 16 of the under-17s, where he was defeated by Wassim Essid of Tunisia, the fourth seed and world No 46 Junior.

In the under-19s, Pattison (Junior WR 178) reached the round of 32 but had to concede to Franciszek Kolodziejczyk of Poland.
