This week saw three teams from Chelmsford table tennis club advance to the handicap cup semi-finals.  Youngsters Sami Osman, Amir Chetitah, Alesha Ellis-Austin, Cleon Fernandes and Dion Fernandes all played starring roles for their respective teams.

Division 3

Trebles from Rev Matthews and Alesha Ellis-Austin helped lead Chelmsford E to a 9-1 away win at Writtle E in division three.  The Chelmsford duo dropped just two games each while completing their three victories as teammate Andy Swales was prevented from joining them on three wins by Neil Thompson.  Swales and Ellis-Austin fought back from 2-1 down to win the doubles contest against Thompson and Malcolm Storey.

Standings div 3: 1: Galleywood B 112 points (from 15 matches), 2: Buttsbury A 99 points (14 matches), 3: OCA C 77 points (from 14 matches).

Division 4

Division 4 Galleywood C remain undefeated this season following a comprehensive 10-0 victory at Danbury L.  Nathan Blore, Will Goodchild and Colin Blore went undefeated though Nathan Blore needed a fifth-game decider in order to see off Ken Wilding.

Division 5

Kelvin Edeh’s hat-trick wasn’t enough to prevent Anglia Ruskin falling to a 6-4 loss against Writtle F in division five.  Edeh beat both Ron Tam and Michael Anthony in three straight games and was victorious against Jo Hart by a 3-1 scoreline.  Tam and Anthony won twice each – Tam recovered from 2-1 down to get the better of Connor Case.

Quarter Finals

Chelmsford B won through to the semi-finals with a 5-1 win over Writtle C – Sami Osman and Amir Chetitah won twice each.  Chelmsford B will next face Chelmsford E who progressed with a 5-3 home win over Buttsbury B – Alesha Ellis-Austin winning all of her matches.  Dan Anderson and Eric Green both won twice as Danbury B advanced to the semi-finals following a 5-1 win at Buttsbury.  Danbury’s next opponents will be Chelmsford G who beat Highwood B 5-1 thanks to two wins apiece for Cleon Fernandes and Dion Fernandes.
