Soraya Rahmani-Walentynska and Harry Tomlinson confirmed their places at the National Championships with winning performances at the Cliffedale Chanders Junior 4*.

Matches in Junior and Cadet categories at the 4* events contribute to the leaderboards which provide a qualifying route into their respective age group Nationals this season.

Winners are automatically invited (if eligible) and points are awarded according to how far players go in the competitions. Updated leaderboards can be viewed on the respective Cadet and Junior Nationals pages.

Top seed Rahmani-Walentynska (pictured above) defeated Penny Muil to win the Under-19 Girls’ Singles, winning the final 3-0 (11-7, 13-11, 11-4).

The champion did not drop a game in her quarter-final or semi-final (the latter against Maja Wojcicka), but had a tough match against Zoe Gonpot in the last 16 – her opponent hit back from 2-0 down to level, before Rahmani-Walentynska won it 3-2 (11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8).

Muil had to survive a fightback in the semi-finals, getting past Luna Archard, who had earlier defeated second seed Kiishi Adekola, 3-2 (11-9, 13-11, 6-11, 8-11, 11-8).

That was part of a string of 3-2s in that sector of the draw – Lin had beaten Janak Shah from 2-1 down in the last 16, while Shah had won 17-15 in the fifth against Aaron Wong in the last 32
