TT Kidz for Participants

Fun table tennis for your child

Table tennis is a great sport to get children into and TT Kidz is the perfect place for them to get started in table tennis!

Aimed at children aged 7-11, TT Kidz takes a fun, inclusive approach, helping children to feel relaxed, confident and supported while learning new skills and enjoying being active. The programme is designed to teach all the fundamentals of table tennis, so no previous experience is needed!

We are currently recruiting deliverers and we will promote sessions when they are live to book on to.

They'll learn key physical skills like co-ordination and quick movement, social skills like teamwork and communication, and table tennis skills like serving and rallying through a mix of games, activities and matches.

Children progress through four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Graduate. As they develop their skills and complete key challenges, coaches will award certificates to recognise their achievements.

The aim of TT Kidz is to help children build the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to progress into other table tennis sessions at their club and continue playing regularly.

If your child is aged 7-11, this programme is the perfect place to get started. Some clubs may choose to split sessions by age group, for example 6-8 and 9-11, so if your child is slightly younger or older than the recommended age range, we encourage you to contact the club directly to discuss the most suitable session.

The programme is designed to teach all the fundamentals of table tennis, so no previous experience is needed. TT Kidz takes a fun, inclusive approach, helping children to feel relaxed, confident and supported while learning new skills and enjoying being active.

Sessions will last around 60 minutes unless specified otherwise (e.g. a special event) but sessions are designed to be fun, active and engaging and to help children to develop their table tennis skills while building confidence and making new friends.

A typical session will include:

  • A fun warm-up activity to get children moving and ready to play
  • Skill-based games and challenges that introduce and develop key table tennis techniques
  • Off-the-table activities using equipment such as cups, cones, and balls to improve coordination, balance, and movement skills
  • Table tennis practice where children apply what they have learned through fun games and rallies
  • Opportunities to earn rewards and recognition as they progress through the TT Kidz pathway
  • A cool-down or recap activity to celebrate achievements and reinforce key learning points.

Through TT Kidz, your child will learn key skills such as movement, coordination, bat and ball control, serving, rallying, games and teamwork.

We encourage clubs to celebrate achievements and make each milestone a special moment. Progress is designed to be fun and supportive, with activities and challenges introduced in an enjoyable way and without pressure.

The programme runs throughout the year, although some clubs may deliver it in specific blocks or terms. We recommend contacting the club directly for details.

Many clubs also provide additional sessions and pathways, giving children more opportunities to play, learn and enjoy table tennis.

The cost of TT Kidz sessions varies between clubs, as each club has different operating costs such as venue hire and coaching fees.

We encourage clubs to keep sessions as affordable and accessible as possible and, where appropriate, offer flexible payment options such as pay-as-you-go or monthly memberships. Please contact your local club for details of their pricing.

All equipment is provided, so there’s no need to bring a bat or balls. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and trainers suitable for being active. Bringing a drink is also a good idea.

All TT Kidz coaches and volunteers must have safeguarding training (or equivalent) and an enhanced DBS check.

To deliver an official TT Kidz programme endorsed by Table Tennis England, clubs must also be a PremierClub, have a licensed coach, and appoint a Club Welfare Officer.

If you have any safeguarding questions or concerns, please contact [email protected].

We’re currently recruiting deliverers and once sessions are available to be booked on to you’ll be able to search for TT Kidz opportunities.
