Three members of the table tennis family who have been honoured by the king met at a recent event.

Clare Briegal MBE, John Mackey BEM and Kwadjo Adjepong OBE all attended a reception for sports honours holders last week in Birmingham City Council’s grand buildings in central Birmingham.

The event was hosted by UK Sport CEO Sally Munday, Sport England Chair Chris Boardman and the Chair of the Honours Committee (Sports) and delegates were also invited to an evening at the European Athletics Championships at the Alexander Stadium.

Former Table Tennis England Director Kwadjo received his OBE for services to sport and sports law in the King’s Birthday Honours this summer. He has been a judge at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) since 2021 and has presided over high-profile cases including an alleged breach of UEFA multi-club ownership rules that prevent clubs with the same owner from competing in European football competitions.

Clare and John’s awards were in the King’s New Year Honours.
