Members of eBaTT have featured on the BBC as the club bounces back from a devastating fire which destroyed its home.

A BBC London TV crew visited the club’s new centre in Barnet, which opened just weeks after the fire tore through their HQ near Staples Corner in north London.

It was originally intended to be the club’s second centre, but is now their permanent base – and features tables which were used at the London 2026 World Championships earlier this year.

The club is just one of dozens of organisations around the country to receive equipment from the Table Tennis England scheme, ensuring the centenary Championships leaves a lasting legacy.

Club founder Eli Baraty was interviewed by reporter Chris Slegg, while Head Coach Sammy Kaye and England No 1 Junior Max Radiven also spoke about the club bouncing back and what it meant to them.

Max said: “It’s amazing having a new place – obviously we’d love to have the old place also, but this is just a new chapter and we’re all really excited.”

On playing on the World Championships tables, he added: “I watch these players on YouTube, I Idolise them, and to know that they have played on these tables that are in this hall is something quite special.”

Eli said: “I was working so hard to rebuild what had been destroyed and I had hundreds, maybe thousands of messages from across the world – it really has been very heartwarming.”
